Picture yourself in a seaside village along the shore in the Mediterranean. Today you tour the castle atop the hill overlooking the village then head to a culinary demonstration and lunch. Afterwards, you stroll along the pastel houses, shops, luxury hotels, and waterfront restaurants until you stop at a cafe for a cappuccino then soon you lose yourself in people watching of the rich and famous.
You’ve just pictured yourself in the harbor of Portofino along the Italian Riviera. “Un piccolo villaggio che si allarga come un arco di luna attorno a questo calmo bacino…” from the Comune di Portofino website and translated to english meaning, A small village that it is stretched like an arch of moon around this calm field…
Portofino was named Portus Delphini or Port of Dolphin for the numerous amount of dolphins that inhabited the Tigullian Gulf area.
This shoreline village has many places to indulge in… such as, historic sites to tour in the area, crystalline green waters for diving and boating, shopping, panoramic spaces to hike and discover, wine tasting, and of course people watching.
