Visiting a wine estate is an experience you’ll never forget. We’ve found three very special wine estates that we think you’ll love.
When you think of Italian wine country, this beautiful estate is what comes to mind. Nestled in Sicily, this estate is part of the Planeta wineries and has fourteen suites, all decorated in bright colors and sporting the finest linens. Each room has a private terrace and minibar, wi-fi, and beach and pool sets.
Wine tasting events are a common occurrence at La Foresteria, and each guest samples a variety from the extensive list of 50 Planeta wines. In addition, guests may take a cooking class with the estate’s chef, Angelo Pumilia. Other amenities include the Fitness Suite, a Turkish bath, and open-air swimming pool.
Near the village of Manduel, the Château de Campuget is in the Costières de Nîmes, a wine region in the Rhône Valley. The Dalle family renovated their 18th century chateau into a three-room winery inn. The rooms are spacious and lovely, and the owners are welcoming. Their daughter Mathilde serves as your chef, along with Chef Patrick Thibaud, and the cuisine is made from produce grown on the estate and nearby farms.
The vineyard grows several types of grapes, including Syrah, Viognier, Grenache, and Roussane. The ground is covered in pebbles of varying shapes, which allow the grape vines to draw the correct amount of water for optimal growth. The winery makes and bottles reds such as 1753 and Le Campuget Rouge, rosés such as Le Campuget Rose, and whites such as Viognier Prestige Blanc and the almost clear-colored Le Campuget Blanc.
Château Andre Ziltener, France
Located in the Bourgogne area, Château Andre Ziltener was built in the 1800s by the first president of the Burgundy parliament. One of the most spectacular estates in France, this winery offers rooms, suites, and apartments that are all lavishly decorated and tastefully appointed with antiques and canopy beds. Additional amenities include marble bathrooms, private dressing rooms, and private terrace access.
You’ll enjoy the Bar a Vin, the wine bar and bistro that serves local cuisine and the house wines.
This chateau has an old cellar vault with wine museum for those interested in the history of the area and its wines. You’ll see how wines were made in the past, and view a map of the Duchy of Burgundy. After touring the old cellar and museum, visitors and guests enjoy a tasting of six wines and receive a keepsake tastevin (tasting cup).
