Recently, I was fortunate to be able to stay at The Springs Resort and Spa in La Fortuna, Arenal. This 5 star resort could easily be a destination all by itself. This resort is less than two years old and has swimming pools and a slide, natural hot and cold springs, waterfalls, an animal preserve, and oh, what a view of the volcano. There are 18 lushly landscaped hot springs pools, bars, swim up bars with movable bar stools, and 9 restaurants to experience. -

Arenal Volcano National Park Hiking Tips

I just returned from an amazing trip to Costa Rica where I had the pleasure of hiking through the stunning Arenal Volcano National Park.
During my hike, I passed through beautiful forests and vast fields overtaken by past volcanic eruptions where black lava has hardened. I was also delighted to see howler monkeys, parrots, and hummingbirds on my hike around this natural phenomenon.

A Spanish speaking country located in Central America and its culture is not the only rich thing about Costa Rica, but the soil is as well. With six active volcanoes in the country it is literally a hot bed of activity.
Out of those six the Arenal, meaning “hill of sand” in Spanish and refers to the volcano’s ash, or sandy slopes, is arguably the most popular tourist attraction the country has to offer. It is also the youngest and most active volcano in Costa Rica along with being one of the ten most active in the world. Needless to say it has prestige for being less than 3,000 years old.
