The magic of Costa Rica is the sounds, sights, and smells of nature. Immerse yourself in Costa Rica by staying at one of these eco-friendly hotels, and prepare to be mesmerized by its beauty and simple sophistication. When luxury travel meets nature, both are enhanced.

    Lapa Rios, Osa Peninsula

The jewel in the crown of the lovely Osa Peninsula, Lapa Rios features bamboo bungalows with romantic nets over the bed, private decks, and garden showers. It’s truly a place for newlyweds and lovers, with stunning views of the Golfo Dulce and gourmet meals prepared by local men who bring their culture to the table.

    Tiskita Jungle Lodge, Southern Pacific

Known as “the best-kept secret in Costa Rica,” remote Tiskita Jungle Lodge is nestled in the rainforest amid tropical fruit orchards, and it boasts wilderness beaches teeming with wildlife. The cabins are simple yet lavish, the food is flavorful and fresh, and the activities include rainforest hikes, snorkeling, horseback riding, sea fishing, surfing, and bird watching.

Arenas Del Mar Nature and Beach Resort, Central Pacific Coast

A new arrival on the Costa Rica eco-friendly hotel scene, Arenas Del Mar Nature and Beach Resort was the first 100% sustainable development project in Costa Rica. Situated in a wildlife reserve, the resort features three types of accommodations: air-conditioned bedrooms with decks that overlook the rainforest, suites with living areas and private hot tubs, and premium suites with two bathrooms and a spacious deck.

The Iguana Verde Tree House, Southern Caribbean

Located in the Gandoca-Manzanillo wildlife refuge, you’ll find four tree houses owned by the Green Iguana Foundation. Each tree house features two bedrooms, a shower room, and a kitchen. You’ll love the rich hardwood, and your tree house is fully air-conditioned and contains a Jacuzzi and barbecue.

You may be tempted to spend all your time enjoying the views from your treehouse, but you’d be missing the exciting activities surrounding you: surfing, whitewater rafting, yoga, and Cahuita National Park.

Which hotel is your favorite, and why?

    1. We absolutely love your travel blog, Kaleidoscopic Wandering. Tell us a little bit about this blog and what you hope site visitors get from reading it.

Kaleidoscopic Wandering is a comprehensive travel blog with travel tips, destination-specific activity and hotel reviews, interviews with travelers and photo essays. I have experienced everything I write about, and all of my travel tips and suggestions come from my own experiences. It isn’t a travelogue or diary but rather a compilation of travel experiences that also provide helpful information. I’m honest with my readers, and my goal is to provide insight beyond what travelers will find in marketing materials or guidebooks.

Today’s guest post comes to us from Spencer Spellman, freelance travel writer and author of The Traveling Philosopher blog.

Spencer has recently returned from a long stay in Costa Rica and has written a blog post that focuses on his favorite beaches of Costa Rica.

See below for his Costa Rica beach highlights:

As I’ve traveled, I’ve found in my journeys that there is something universally satisfying about a beautiful beach. While I’m not too sure there’s a “perfect beach,” I’ve set out over the last few weeks to explore Costa Rica in search of the next best thing. In recent years, Costa Rica has established itself as a top destination because of its pristine beaches. Since the winter months are the best time to visit, many travelers around the world head south to experience Costa Rica’s beautiful beaches for themselves. To help you plan for your next trip, I’ve highlighted some of the best beaches in Costa Rica.

    Costa Rica coffee

While traveling en-route from Manuel Antonio to La Fortuna in Costa Rica we stopped to sit awhile and enjoy some coffee. The Espiritu Santo Coffee Plantation is  located in the mountains of Naranjo.  The people were warm and welcoming just like their gourmet coffee.  The 640-acre plantation provides organic coffee to companies in the U.S., Europe, and Costa Rica.  Most likely if you like coffee, you’ve drank some of theirs since they supply coffee to popular coffee shops such as Starbucks, Caribu, and, Petes.
