As temperatures start to rise with the beginning of spring, that means it’s time to dust off those clubs and hit the links. The World Cup really put South Africa on the map, making it one of the best destinations to visit right now. While safaris and wine often dominate conversations about South Africa, the country has quietly established itself as a top golf destination. Below, we spotlight South Africa’s best golf courses.
Fancourt The Links Golf Course. Fancourt is one of the most renowned golf courses in the world, partly because of its beauty, but also due to the championship design by legendary golfer Gary Player. It’s actually not one, but three, championship courses. The Links is the most recent course, barely a decade old. The significance of this course can easily be understood by noting the professional events that have been played here, including the PGA Presidents Cup in 2003 and the Women’s World Cup of Golf in 2005.
