travel giftsAs the holidays are fast approaching, we’re making our gift lists and preparing to go shopping. We realized that we offer one of the best presents available: the gift of luxury travel and distinctive journeys.

Why give travel to your friends and family?

You literally give your loved one the world.

We’ve always heard that expression, “I’d give you the world if I could.” When you give a luxury vacation, you can. Your family member or friend can choose practically anywhere on earth to visit, and we can accommodate his or her wishes. Read More | Comments

back painTraveling can be a major pain in the neck. Literally. This is why it’s important to understand your body and how you can alleviate and avoid pain during travel.

Below are some tips to help you stand up straight and feel great while traveling:

Get Up Regularly: Whether you’re sitting on a train, or in an airplane or car, it’s important to stand up and move around. Sitting in the same position for a long period of time can cause terrible back pain (everywhere from the lower back to the upper back). Even if you might not feel like getting up and stretching, it’s important to be proactive and do so. This will prevent joints and muscles from stiffening.

Pack Efficiently: Most of us are guilty of packing way too much into our bags. This can cause serious physical pain and agony, especially when you have to bend down and launch your suitcase onto the checked baggage scale or in the overhead compartment. The best way to ensure your suitcase doesn’t way a ton is by planning out your outfits and necessary toiletries in advance. Instead of bringing two large shampoo and conditioner containers, bring two small containers with your shampoo and conditioner inside. Or opt for the shampoo and conditioner in one. We recently had the absolute pleasure of interviewing JoAnna Haugen, a former Peace Corps volunteer, full-time freelance writer, copywriter and editor with work published in nearly 40 online and print publications! JoAnna is also the author of one of our favorite travel blogs, Kaleidoscopic Wandering.

See below for our interview, where JoAnna shares all about her adventurous travels (*NOTE: All images in this post are owned and provided by JoAnna Haugen):

    1. We absolutely love your travel blog, Kaleidoscopic Wandering. Tell us a little bit about this blog and what you hope site visitors get from reading it.

Kaleidoscopic Wandering is a comprehensive travel blog with travel tips, destination-specific activity and hotel reviews, interviews with travelers and photo essays. I have experienced everything I write about, and all of my travel tips and suggestions come from my own experiences. It isn’t a travelogue or diary but rather a compilation of travel experiences that also provide helpful information. I’m honest with my readers, and my goal is to provide insight beyond what travelers will find in marketing materials or guidebooks.

A lion in Botswana's Okavango Delta

Today, we’re sharing Part II of our interview with Melanie Waldman, the writer and photographer behind the Travels with Two blog.

If you missed Part I of the interview, don’t forget to check it out! You can read it here.

    Below is Part II. Enjoy!

You travel all around the world with your husband. What have been the best travel experiences you’ve had as a couple?

We love wildlife-focused trips–seeing the creatures you can only see in a specific place, and then grinning at each other like happy fools. We once took a rusty fishing boat out to the marine reserve around Bali’s Menjangan Island, in the Java Sea; the corals and fish there are so vibrant it’s almost ridiculous. We went on a float excursion down the Snake River in Wyoming’s Grand Teton National Park and saw beavers building their dens and bald eagles in the treetops, then wrapped up the day back in Jackson Hole with wine and cheese by a roaring fire. Our safaris in Botswana and Tanzania were life-changing, and we’ll probably never stop talking about seeing lions, giraffes, zebras, and antelopes–even an elusive honey badger. And at an eco-lodge on Costa Rica’s southernmost Osa Peninsula, we sat side by side in Adirondack chairs on the deck of our cabin and watched monkeys swing through the rainforest. Lots of monkeys.

However, those rich experiences from abroad don’t have to end when you step foot back into your home. You can incorporate some of your best travel experiences into your home life. Today we’re discussing how to bring your travel memories home with you and experience travel — even when you’re not on the open road.

Leather-bound coffee table photo books. Everyone loves a good coffee table photo book. They are not only of interest for you, but also to house guests. Coffee table photo books of your own travel experiences are great because they serve as conversation starters.
